Networking with BOMA Greater Los Angeles

(Photo from the Culver Hotel website)

Duggan and Associates has always been very involved with the BOMA Greater Los Angeles organization.  They supply great educational seminars, and many opportunities to network within the property management industry.  We often sponsor various events, and our team members participate in several committees throughout the year to show our commitment.

One of our Duggan team members is on one of these committees that is helping to organize a fantastic networking opportunity at the Culver Hotel on February 12, 2015.  In addition to the usual food, drinks, and mingling, there will be opportunities to hear some fascinating stories about what used to be known as "Screenland" and the constant stream of celebrities that frequented this beautiful and historic hotel.  For the real estate minded people, this is a fun opportunity to tour preserved architecture and design that is glamorous and rooted in Southern California history.  There are "secret" tunnels below ground that the munchkins from the Wizard of Oz would travel to and from set through, not to mention the alcohol smuggling that occurred down there throughout the Prohibition Era.

Oh...and did we mention that there's a resident ghost?  Hotel owner and founder of Culver City, Harry H. Culver, is rumored to still inhabit the building...60+ years after his death.  Listen to first-hand stories of haunted happenings from the hotel staff, and have a look inside his former office space.

This is going to be a memorable event, and we hope to see many of you there!

Appreciation Luncheon for the Duggan and Associates Field Team

If painting, refinishing wood, installing wallcovering, and hanging off of 30 story buildings to caulk the sides of buildings were easy work, then we'd all just do it ourselves.  These specialized services take a special team of people along with training, dedication, and skill to do well.  Duggan and Associates has built up that team, and we are proud of them.  To thank them for all of their hard work throughout the year, a holiday luncheon was provided with tasty food, awards, raffles, and gifts for everyone.

Duggan Family Spotlight

Arnold Sjuts

If you've done any work with Duggan and Associates over the past 2 years, then you've probably interacted with Arnold, our General Superintendent.  He's the gears behind our field workforce.  Once you confirm that you would like to go forward with a job, Arnold is the one who contacts you to schedule the work, and then coordinates with our field team to make sure he's got the right team for your job, that they know where they're going, when they're supposed to be there, what their scope of work is, and that the work was completed correctly.  He manages a very large team of tradesmen, and there are a lot of moving pieces going on at any given moment, but Arnold keeps the wheels turning.

Prior to working for Duggan and Associates, Arnold worked as a Master Foreman for 24 years.  He started out his career as a paper hanger, then added painting to his resume, and eventually became a Field Supervisor.

On the personal side, Arnold has 2 children aged 16 and 24, he likes customizing fast cars and trucks, enjoys Latin and Italian food, with a good steak high on that list.  He also cooks and watches action movies, and wants to eventually travel the world.

December was a busy month for the Duggan and Associates team.  Relive some of the memories with us through the photos below!
